THE OFFSHORE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY

U.S. Coast Guard and Geodetic Survey figures compiled in 1977 indicate that the helicopter played a dominant role in transporting 26,000 offshore workers and in supporting some 200 drilling rigs as well as 11,000 miles of Gulf floor pipeline and 5,835 wells. The role of the Gulf coast helicopter fleet is described along with the growth of the offshore operators.
