A REVIEW OF EXISTING SEWER SURVEY TECHNIQUES

The report covers part of the work carried out by William F Rees Limited under a Transport and Road Research Laboratory-sponsored research contract to study the methods for the inspection, maintenance and renovation of sewers. The intention of this report is to identify the reasons for carrying out condition surveys of sewerage systems, to review techniques presently available for expediting these surveys, and to suggest areas where improvements in these techniques would be desirable. The report includes brief notes on the principles of operation of most types of survey techniques, evaluates their criteria and performance, and gives indications of their likely application. Basic cost data have also been developed to assist in the assessment of surveying difficulties/cost factors which are encountered when applied to some of the described techniques. /Author/
