MINIMIZING BIRD HAZARDS: THE ROLE OF THE AIRPORT MANAGER

This article outlines a systematic control strategy which consists of first analyzing bird problems (usually with the aid of ornithologists) to determine the species involved and their behavior patterns, reconnaissance to determine locations and flight paths, selection and use of suitable and feasible (i.e. appropriate for the species involved, as well as not posing undue environmental or safety risks) control techniques, evalaution of results and continuous monitorings.
