ON THE KINETIC THEORY OF TRAFFIC FLOW IN THE CASE OF A NONNEGLIGIBLE NUMBER OF QUEUEING VEHICLES

The interaction term of the I. Prigogine kinetic equation of traffic flow is modified in order to account for the existence of a nonnegligible number of queueing vehicles. The speed distribution of the queues is introduced for this purpose. New equations are obtained for a stationary homogeneous flow. The new model is compared with the Prigogine theory and with available experimental data.
