Caltrans Strategic Plan 2007-2012

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Strategic Plan focuses on the agency's mission, vision, and objectives. Five key goals are identified and discussed: 1) safety: providing the safest transportation system in the country; 2) mobility: maximizing transportation system performance and accessibility; 3) delivery: efficiently delivering quality transportation projects and services; 4) stewardship: preserving and enhancing the state's resources and assets; and, 5) service: promoting quality service through an excellent workforce. Four key goals guiding the Department are briefly discussed: integrity, commitment, teamwork, and innovation. 26 objectives and 99 accompanying strategies for achieving the objectives are outlined. Finally, the the Strategic Plan describes the various performance measures used for determining the effectiveness of the strategies that were implemented.
