APPLICATION OF EMULSIFIED FUEL TO DIESEL ENGINE

With the co-operation of the Mitsubishi Oil Co. and the Mitsubishi Motors Corp., during 1974-1976 the Authors' company carried out experimental work with emulsified fuels (i.e., fuel/water emulsions), aimed at decreasing the Nox emissions from medium-size and large Diesel engines. The article gives an account of this work, in which MAN 18V 40/54 and 12V 52/55 engines and some smaller Diesels were used, and presents and discusses some of the results. Test-bed results confirmed that Nox emission was lower, and fuel consumption better, when running on emulsified fuel. Order from BSRA as No. 49,464.
