STIB: Staff Replacement and Knowledge Transfer

A large number of managers at the Societe des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (STIB) have retired within the past few years. This has meant that STIB has had to address the issue of staff replacement, which in turn raises questions on how to best transmit experience and knowledge and how to bring together teams made up of people from different corporate cultures and accustomed to different working methods. This article discusses how STIB is attempting to answer the questions by proposing a new reference model, which both old and new managers are being encouraged to use as the basis for building a new managerial culture.
