DEVELOPMENTS IN RADAR DATA PROCESSING AT THE LONDON AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTRE

Air Traffic Control for the London Flight Information Region (FIR), covering England and Wales, is exercised from the London Air Traffic Control Center (LATCC) at West Drayton near London Airport, Heathrow. Radar, both primary and secondary, is the prime source of positional information available to the air traffic controller. The paper reviews the evolution of the radar processing and display facilities in use at LATCC and describes a major new system now being introduced for the 1980s.
