Mingo Creek Viaduct - Challenges of Topography and Geology
On April 12, 2002, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission opened a seventeen mile segment of the Mon-Fayette Expressway in western Pennsylvania linking State Route 51 at its northern limit to Interstate 70 at its southern limit. This new leg of the expressway, designated Toll 43, includes an aesthetic, signature structure that is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s second tallest bridge as well as the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s tallest, the Mingo Creek Viaduct.
