TRAFFIC LESSONS FOR OLD PEOPLE IN THE NETHERLANDS. AN INVENTORY STUDY

VERKEERSCURSUSSEN VOOR BEJAARDEN IN NEDERLAND. EEN INVENTARISEREND ONDERZOEK

Traffic safety concerns all road users and the number of traffic victims is very high for all ages, but old people have the highest accident rate. With increasing years it becomes more and more difficult for old people to cope with modern traffic. Most of these old people have had no traffic education at all. The main purpose of this study was to review the traffic education specifically for old people and to study the efficiency of this education. It is concluded that quantitatively sufficient attention is given to traffic education for old people in the Netherlands. Qualitatively, however, improvement is needed. /TRRL/
