Methods of solving the problem of process design in earthworks are sought. This work is based on currently available valid data which take account of a computing system relating to the main elements of earthworks (man, machine, soil) with the aim of providing practical information. A linear optimisation model serves for determining the use of earthworks machinery for quarrying and transport. /TRRL/
