RADIATING CABLES FOR RITA. AN ASSESSMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE OF RADIATING CABLES ENERGISED AT LOW AND MEDIUM FREQUENCIES, FINAL REPORT

The report describes investigations carried out by STL under an extension of a TRRL contract to study detailed aspects of radiating cables operating in the lf/mf region. The work formed part of studies to evaluate the feasibility of using radiating cables in rita (road information transmitted aurally) applications. Tests were carried out at the North Weald site used for work reported in parts 1 & 2 of the initial TRRL contract. Cables tested were either buried up to 30 cm deep, laid on the surface or placed at 10 cm above the surface of the test track. The report discusses the results of the investigations, equipment used and suggests further studies. For parts 1 and 2 of the report see IRRD abstracts nos 231695 and 231696. /TRRL/
