Effects of Scouring Depth Variation on the Seismic Response of a Bridge with Large Pile-Foundations

A two-particle single pier model was established using the Sutong Bridge as background. The high-rise pile cap foundation and bridge structure dynamic interaction was analyzed, and conclusions were drawn on scouring depth variation effect on seismic response. An entire bridge finite element model was established and scouring depth variation effect on side pier and tower seismic response was analyzed. That scouring depth variation significantly affects bridge seismic response is indicated by response. Bridge seismic response possibly appears a peak value, but does not monotonously reduce when scouring depth increases.
