As interest in recovering oil offshore has increased, research and information sources have multiplied. An array of conference proceedings, technical papers, bibliogrpahies, and journal articles is available for reference, but the multidisciplinary nature of offshore engineering has made it quite difficult to locate many of the materials easily. This bibliography has been compiled with Sea Grant support to address the problem. It is intended to help persons new to the field of offshore petroleum engineering identify background publications; to provide persons in the field with hard-to-find references; and to aid librarians building collections of basic information in the field. The report is organized to provide access to existing literature and to help the reader locate future information sources. Guides to journals and bibliographies are included in the beginning chapters and are followed by publications listed by broad subject areas and then broken into subcategories. For instance, a major heading, "Oceanography and Ocean Environment Description," is divided into topic areas including Oceanographic Instrumentation, Wave Generation, Wave Modelling, and Directional Wave Spectra, among others. This Sea Grant report has been published by Nichols Publishing Company in New York, but to make the information accessible and easily available to our constituents, M.I.T. ordered a limited number of the bibliographies for distibution at the publisher's retail cost.
