Investigation on Rational Analytical Model of Tall Bridge Piers
Development of different tall pier analytical models are based on the elastic-plastic fiber beam-column element and the elastic-plastic beam-column element. The author discusses tall pier plastic rotation and displacement, as well as other structural seismic demands. Results show that tall pier seismic demands are remarkably different from low pier when there is significant higher vibration mode contribution. Element length significantly effects plastic rotation and displacement demand for elastic-plastic beam-column elements. Finally, the authors discusses seismic demand analysis investigation results of elastic-plastic beam-column element and elastic-plastic fiber beam-column element use.
