CONCRETE BLOCK PAVING FOR LIGHTLY TRAFFICKED ROADS AND PAVED AREAS

Guidance is given on the design and construction of concrete block paving for roads and paved areas carrying up to 175 commercial vehicles per day. The structural design and detail design are discussed. The thicknesses required for various subgrades and types of road are set out. Preparation of sub-base, construction of laying course and surfacing course are described. Site organization is discussed. Advice is given on reinstatement of blocks. The requirements for blocks and for construction tolerances are set out. Reference is made to UK specifications where appropriate. /TRRL/
