INTERDISCIPLINARY COOPERATION IN THE ANALYSIS OF ACCIDENTS INVOLVING COLLISION WITH PEDESTRIANS

INTERDISZIPLINAERE ZUSAMMENARBEIT BEI DER AUFKLAERUNG VON UNFAELLEN DURCH ANFAHREN VON FUSSGAENGERN

The appraisal of accidents involving collisions with pedestrians has demonstrated that a separate medical-technical study is not adequate to completely clarify such cases. In recent years, the authors have been involved in close interdisciplinary cooperation of medical and traffic engineering specialists, beginning with the on-the-spot report and continuing with the post-mortem to the analysis of the accident mechanism. By means of such cooperation it has been found possible to classify the typical nature of collisions with pedestrians, and thanks to this classification to understand the nature of the origin of injuries and the accident process, including those cases which do not result in fatal injuries. /TRRL/
