Rigid Catenary Finds Favour Underground

In addition to potentially saving money over conventional systems, rigid overhead catenary systems (ROCS) are becoming more acceptable for railway system power delivery in areas demanding simplified maintenance and tight clearances. ROCS have been installed in several locations worldwide, including Seoul, Korea, and Delhi, India. The author discusses facets of ROCS materials and installation, such as the use of bolted connections at flexible system interfaces.
