Clickair Clique
Clickair, a Barcelona-based carrier with 18 A320s in June of 2007, is Europe’s fastest-growing airline. More surprising, it has managed to keep its operating costs so low that they are second only to Ryannair—despite having nowhere near the same economies of scale. Its chief executive Alex Cruz outlines aggressive plans for the airline, which has five shareholders including Grupo ACS, Iberostar, Nefinsa, Quercus Equity, and Iberia, which needed to respond to the low-cost carrier assault on its short-haul network. The fleet is made up of former Iberia aircraft, but will add new aircraft as it expands. It anticipates carrying some 4.5 million passengers in 2007 and more than 10 million by the end of 2008. Shareholders have committed 120 million Euros through the end of 2008.
