Optimal Region Aggregation with Shape Considerations in Spatial Optimization
The region aggregation (land acquisition) problem is discussed within the context of a regular grid matrix having representative cell indices or attribute values. Several optimization formulations have been developed to solve such problems. The paper speculates on the possible benefits from the application of these solution methodologies using image processing technologies.
