Private Operators Are Driving Liberalisation
The author discusses the outlook of Mr. Bernhard Kunz, CEO of Swiss intermodal operator Hupac, on the importance of private, independent operator encouragement and the beneficial aspects of European railway network competition. Resistance by both incumbents and local politicians is examined. Factors such as infrastructure, terminals, homologation, market share and railfreight growth are discussed.
