COST-EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY OF ALTERNATIVE ROADWAY DELINEATION TREATMENTS FOR RURAL TWO-LANE HIGHWAYS. VOLUME IV. APPENDIX B, DEVELOPMENT AND DESCRIPTION OF COMPUTERIZED DATA BASE
Under this research study, the effect of various delineation treatments on accident rates was assessed by analyzing accident data from more than 500 roadway sites in 10 States for tangent, winding and isolated horizontal curve sections on two-lane rural highways. Cost-benefit and cost models for evaluating specific delineation treatments were developed and guidelines formulated by executing the cost-benefit models for selected delineation treatments. This volume describes in detail the development of the computerized data base used in the study including the development of compatible data codes and resolution of coding descrepancies. /FHWA/
