A Historical Look at Interstate Highway System Pavements in the North Central Region
This paper focuses on the pavements constructed on the Interstate system in the North Central region of the United States (North Central includes 13 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin). Included is a brief summary of the AASHO Road Test, which was located in the North Central region and served as the basis for the design of much of the Interstate system.
