Interest in Maritime Studies at Higher Education Levels in the Republic of Slovenia
Mechanical engineering and navigation are two separate higher education courses that future officers in the fields of engineering and navigating are educated in at the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transportation in Portoroz, Slovenia. The author discusses a study involving analysis of first year students registered for the first time in both courses for two selected time periods. Qualities important to the selected students' success were determined. Selected final-year students' final results were analyzed, and based on this, there was assessment of maritime-program teachers' work, as well as recommendation for improvement.
