Germany, Austria, Switzerland: A Review
This article presents a review of airport developments in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during 2006. It relates that there was an average increase of 5.3% in airport traffic, with scheduled airlines reporting a 4% increase, while low cost carriers reported that their passenger counts had grown by 29% over the previous year. Cargo traffic for all airports increased by 9.3%. Airports in Germany discussed in the article include: Frankfurt (Rhein-Main), which is the top international facility in Germany, Frankfurt-Hahn, Munich, which features a public private partnership with Lufthansa Airlines, Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg, and Dusseldorf.. In Switzerland, the article reviews airports in Zurich, Geneva, and Basle-Mulhouse/EuroAirport. Austrian airports include: Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck.
