Business Perspectives on the Feasibility of Container-On-Barge Service: Alabama Freight Mobility Study Phase I
The Alabama Freight Mobility Study, a multiphase project, explores how efficient utilization of waterways can better empower U.S. producers and manufacturers to be more competitive in global commerce. It also investigates how inland waterways can mitigate highway congestion. The study methodology includes freight movement analysis in Alabama and its surrounding regions, interviews and other research. The methodology utilizes case studies, and it develops economic strategies and other information that can be applicable to the transportation system in the United States, and especially in Alabama.
