Characteristic Evaluation of Corrosion of Aluminum-Based Rigid Conductor Line

This paper presents the results of accelerated corrosion tests on aluminum-based rigid conductor lines. Aluminum, while being a cost-effective and lightweight material for use in conductor lines in railroad tunnels, is also easily prone to corrosion. Using alkali water and saltwater spraying tests, the researchers measured the material characteristics of corrosion. Conclusions are given regarding countermeasures to prevent corrosion. Predicted lifetimes of aluminum bases in tunnel areas are also discussed.
