Fused Plastic Line Saves $400,000 on One-Mile Pull
This article describes the application of an innovative method for installing a mile-long force main irrigation pipeline Horizontal direction drilling was used to bore a path for 5,120 feet of gasketless fusible PVC pipe. The 10-inch wide pipe was then pulled back through the borehole. This is considered to be the longest pullback ever for PVC of this length, especially since PVC pipe lengths are usually connected with gaskets. The article details the pullback operation, and notes that using PVC resulted in a cost savings of $400,000.
