INJECTION EQUIPMENT FOR MEDIUM-SPEED ENGINES USING RESIDUAL FUELS

The paper presents specific topics arising from the use of residual fuels in medium-speed diesel engines, with special reference to fuel injection equipment performance and reliability. The wide range of residual fuel characteristics is first summarized and the injection and combustion needs which emerge are discussed. These and other considerations are used to derive broad requirements for satisfactory injection equipment behavior.
