DEVELOPMENT OF ANALYTICAL ASPECTS OF DIESEL ENGINE DESIGN

The paper describes the development of a comprehensive prediction procedure for the gas-dynamic, combustion phenomena, heat transfer, turbocharging, stressing and life prediction of engine components. The overall approach is based on a logical accumulation of predictive skills in the form of various mathematical models, verified by experimental studies. Evaluation of engine operating characteristics in terms of design parameters with the use of overall predictive models is provided and discussed.
