This paper gives a survey of the service experience with slow-speed diesel engines from the K-GF series. The problems encountered and the solutions chosen are treated, emphasizing the novelties which have been introduced for the K-GF series. The paper also describes in detail the role of the engine itself, its accessories and its operation in preserving good cylinder conditions, and the topics are illuminated through service data and through the results of recent research work.
