Getting Priorities Right
The authors discuss a new optimal management system using comprehensive life-cycle description of all network objects for Moscow, Russia's bridge repair work. Developed over the last three years, AGA Corporation's System for Optimal Management (SOM) is an all-purpose technology which allows detailed description and generation of optimal repair strategies; object inspection; structural system subdivision; object registration and cataloging in a database; and object network planning and formation. It can be used for virtually any transportation and urban infrastructure object, including road networks, sewerage, waterworks, tunnels, and bridges. SOM is described in detail, and the technological needs of Gormost, the bridge agency of Moscow, are discussed.
