TRIPLE-AXIS DRIVE CONTROL FOR CURVED GENERATION IN A COMPUTERIZED SHIP MODEL EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY

The computerized planar motion carriage (CPMC) at the Hamburg Schiffbau-Versuchsanstalt GmbH incorporates three decoupled servodrives. The CPMC enables captive ship models to be guided along computer-calculated curves or free-running models to be tracked so exactly that the curve of the model's path can be determined with high accuracy. Descriptions are given of the control concept for curves and of the tracking control.
