Simulator Assessment of Older Driver Proficiency
The authors describe the initial analysis of a study of older driver simulator assessment procedure development simulator performance data. In the study, older drivers (ages 70-90) and younger drivers (ages 21-50) are compared in regard to driving simulator performance. Driving scenarios were designed for simulator sickness symptom minimization. Females experience simulator sickness more severely than males, and sickness appears to increase with age. Simulator sickness symptoms do not appear to effect simulator performance, which is age sensitive.
