Seeing is Believing
This article profiles the landmark effect of the Boeing 787 since its first full-scale fuselage made from composite material was unveiled in 2004. Along with the DC-3, Viscount, 707, 747, A300, the 787 is considering a key combination of new technology, materials and systems, with a step change in engine technology and fuel consumption and passenger comfort. The article gives previously undisclosed details about the development of the 787, which was given the working name of Project 20XX or Project Glacier. Details of the plane's innovations are given, along with the manufacturing and supply processes that it helped pioneer. The 787 is slated to start flying at the end of August 2007, with an official unveiling on 7/8/07.
