VEHICLE PERFORMANCE MONITORING

The article describes vehicle performance monitoring equipment developed by sundstrand data control and based on similar aerospace equipment. The unit, known as the model 585M111, is designed to provide a durable and accurate means of recording critical vehicle performance parameters during testing. The unit can be applied to a wide range of vehicle types and is able to store up to 32 channels of digital data on a 40 h cassette. Transducers are provided to monitor such engine parameters as speed, combustion and fuel injection pressures, exhaust gas temperature and pressure, coolant temperature and air inlet temperature. Other measurements recorded cover brake pedal force, fuel temperature, lateral and longitudinal accelerations, chassis vibration and the stress at any desired location. /TRRL/
