European Integration of Rail Freight Transport
The focus of this round table report is rail freight transport as part of an integrated freight transport infrastructure. With reports from Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, rail freight transport is becoming more integrated with highway and maritime freight operations but can rail freight operation keep up with demand? Cargo and freight tonnage is increasing every year and the demand on current infrastructure capabilities and arrangements is creating pressure to expand cargo and freight facilities and to make business operations more transparent in order to effectively compete in the freight transport sector.
