Planning for nationwide rural development in the Philippines through development of rural roads and bridges
The development of rural roads and bridges in the Philippines will facilitate the interconnection of islands by good transport and communications networks. This will open up new economic opportunities; reduce transportation and transaction costs of business; increase access to social services; strengthen the socio economic, cultural and political linkages between and among regions; and eventually decentralize progress and bring development to the countryside. This paper details the development plan. (a)
