NEW FORMULAE FOR ANTI-CORROSION PAINTS CONTAINING POLYURETHANE

NOUVELLES FORMULATIONS DE PEINTURES ANTICORROSION A BASE DE POLYURETHANES

Polyurethane resin paints are prepared and applied with a gun on metal samples: a primer with a high zinc content is covered with a finishing coat containing phtalocyanine blue, a primer with zinc chromate/iron oxide is covered with finishing coats containing nickel-titanate. The following tests were carried out on the samples: exposure to bad weather and ultra violet rays, to saline mists, adhesion and resistance to chemical agents. The results of the tests show that the paint with a zinc primer is particularly suitable to metal structures, while the second system is better adapted to storage tanks and vats. Both paints are highly stable especially when applied on very carefully prepared surfaces. /TRRL/
