AN INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICAL QUALITY CONTROL FOR CONCRETE

The report begins with definitions of commonly used terms and an example is then given to illustrate the basic differences between "process control" and "compliance judgement." A description of basic statistical concepts and "attributes" and "variables" sampling schemes is followed by a discussion of quality control for concrete. An examination of the operating characteristics of two current concrete specifications (1969 UK MOT and AS 1480-1974) is made and discussed in the light of data presented on typical quality and variability data. The control schemes in as 1480-1974 are described as "complex" and some of its o-c curves are seen to be unreasonable. A very brief description of physical quality control prerequisites is given. /Author/TRRL/
