Tunnel Boring in Progress for the Citytunnel Project of Malmo, Sweden
The article focuses on Malmo, Sweden's twin bore tunneling project under its city center. One of the nation's most complex and largest infrastructure projects, the CityTunnel project involves 6 km of single-track rail and 11 km of double-track rail. Construction on the CityTunnel project began in March 2005, the first tunnel boring activity began in November 2006, and construction of the second tunnel began recently. The project is expected to be completed by 2011.
