Integrated transport planning from a local government perspective
The paper explores the opportunities for improved planning in Sydney. Case studies are drawn from recently completed major transport infrastructure projects such as the Westlink M7 and the Liverpool to Parramatta Transitway. How can more input from local government be included in these projects to maximize local benefits and achieve sustainability outcomes ? The paper concludes by stressing the need for planning input from local government professionals right from the inception stage of projects and incorporating feedback loops so that many of the pitfalls that seem to plague such processes can be reduced in the future.
