CONTAINER TERMINAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE: THE ALL STRADDLE CARRIER SYSTEM

The author describes his company's terminal, notably its location, facilities, accommodation, layout, services and manpower. An inventory of terminal equipment is given and details of the terminal's throughput. Additional operational information is set out in the next section and the operational methods are outlined. The author describes the handling of customers' vehicles and the working of trains. Manpower aspects, the information and control systems, and, finally, the current and future operations of the all straddle carrier system are described.
