Boxing Clever: Erection of the World's Longest Box Girder Span Was Completed Recently

The article discusses Chongqing, China's new Shibanpo Bridge, which has the world's longest box girder span and was completed in June 2006. Constructed in 1981, the original Shibanpo Bridge is complemented by the new structure, which runs parallel to it across the Yangtze River. A cast in situ concrete free cantilever segmental method was used to construct the entire bridge, which cost around $40 million (US).
