A New Era in Terminal Design

This article reports on efforts of Dublin Airport Authority to implement a 10-year development plan to upgrade and improve Dublin Airport. Described as a terminal for the future, the new terminal, called T2, is a three-story curvilinear structure that is reminiscent of the curved lines found in the original 1940s design of the existing main terminal. T2, which it will be built adjacent to main terminal as it sits astride the main access road, is designed to combine modern conveniences such as self-service kiosks with traditional check-in stations. Regarding security, the screening area has been designed to be expandable and upgradeable, allowing for possible future changes in European Union security rules. Construction of T2 is scheduled for Spring 2007, with completion by Autumn 2009.
