Cost Reduction and Resource Maximisation in the Urban Bus Industry
This article summarizes some ideas that could be implemented to help reduce costs and maximize the use of limited resources in the urban bus industry. These initiatives focus on improving staff utilization, developing better engineering and fleet maintenance practices, reducing accidents and claims, cutting bus operating costs through higher capacity vehicles and improved travel speed, and maximizing revenue streams. A willingness to participate in benchmarking activities also can lead to the exchange of ideas and good practices between companies with similar objectives.
