EFFECTS OF STERN PROFILE ON COURSE STABILITY OF FULL-BODIED SHIPS

A statistical study was made on the effect of stern profile configurations on course stability of full-bodied ships, both in full and model scale. As a result, a formula was derived which describes this effect fairly well; it can be used for predicting course stability of ships, and is also useful in designing stern profile configurations.
