HIGH-SPEED SUBMERGED-ARC WELDING WITH STRIP ELECTRODES. PART ONE: DEVELOPMENT

Employing welding currents of 900-1050 A and speeds up to 1.5 m/min, a system based on submerged-arc welding with strip filler, using several filler wires in tandem, achieved productivity increases of 270-500% depending on fillet height. Application of the system at a plant manufacturing structural steelwork is described in the following abstract. Order from BSRA as No. 49,274.
