THE IDEAS BEHIND B. AND W.'S ECONOMY HULL DESIGN

This paper expands ideas used in the hull design of the prototype multi-purpose ship Hau Giang, (originally named Hamlet Alice), such as reducing residual resistance with regard to interaction between hull and propeller. Details of the ship's trials are included and the paper concludes that the advantages of the new design depend on how much propeller diameter can be increased. Order from BSRA as No. 49,197.
