AASHTO/NACo/NADO Midwest Local Consultation Workshop
This report describes the results of workshop on non-metropolitan local consultation, held May 18-19, 2006 in St. Louis, Missouri. The workshop was held for the 9 states in Midwestern United States - Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin. It provided a venue for non-metropolitan local officials to discuss project selection, planning and program development. The workshop had 4 main goals: (1) identify best practices, challenges and success in each of the nine states' local consultation process; (2) based on #1, identify the most important performance measures and criteria that should be utilized by each of the states to evaluate its local consultation process; (3) review a draft self-assessment guide for the states to measure the success of their local consultation processes, and also to notice the areas that are in need of improvement; (4) Encourage additional follow up from each state on further tasks that can aid their non-metropolitan local consultation process.
